The spectacular wildlife and breathtaking beauty of the Serengeti make the region a photographer’s paradise, but how do you ensure the magic of each safari moment is conveyed through imagery?  As a new offering for 2015, Four Seasons is offering the opportunity for budding photographers to take part in one of two exclusive five day photography safaris, with daily game drives to capture photos of the magnificent wildlife. As part of the  experience, expert insights and tuition will be delivered in a group and one-on-one basis by acclaimed wildlife photographer, Paul Joynson-Hicks.

Paul Joynson-Hicks has been living in Tanzania for the past 16 years building his stunning wildlife portfolio. His photography has been featured in four international coffee table books and across global advertising campaigns. As part of his new partnership with Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti, two Photo Safaris will take place in 2015, with the first event scheduled for 4 – 9 May and the second for 9 – 14 November. Each Photo Safari is limited to a maximum of four participating photographers and will follow the below outline itinerary.

Day 1 – Monday

After a magical morning flight to Seronera, arrive at the Lodge to be greeted by Paul and the rest of the group. After settling in, enjoy lunch by the pool overlooking the Serengeti, and a short afternoon game drive to discover the local surroundings, before a slide show by Paul in the evening.

Days 2 to 5 – Tuesday to Friday

Each day, the Photo Safari will begin at first light for one full, or two half-day, game drives. Paul will accompany the group of no more than four participants on safari each day and offer advice and photo tips; adapting the safari to the level of experience, needs and objectives. Back at the Discovery Centre, he will critique the captured photos, offering editing and post-production tips, as well as one-on-one workshops. The Discovery Centre is fully equipped with camera-cleaning equipment and an iMac with image processing software to edit or back up photos.

With the limited size group, Paul will be able to spend time with each member to offer photography tips and advice. As part of the Photo Safari, one morning will include a hot air balloon safari to capture the spectacular views of the Serengeti from the air. Back at the Lodge, there is time to recharge; enjoy the pool or spa, and learn more about the wildlife seen on safari at the Discovery Centre.

Day 6 – Saturday:

After breakfast, enjoy a final mini game drive to Seronera Airstrip as a final chance to photograph the Serengeti’s magnificent wildlife before departure.

Price: $5,495 pp for 5 night safari (space is limited to a maximum of four people per safari)
