As part of our Community Outreach programme, our team of Environment Ambassadors at the Lodge recently joined forces with the local Secondary School and Tourism College to plant 350 trees in an effort to prevent soil erosion in the Mugumu region.
Trees are a vital source of shade for the local community, plus they provide a home to various species of animals and insects. In the hot climate, leaves are also essential in helping to cool the air. These hot temperatures combined with sudden heavy rains can create challenging conditions for trees to survive in, so following this tree planting project, each of the students involved will be responsible for caring for a select number of seedlings that have been planted to help nurture their growth.
In addition to the support from our employees, Four Seasons Safari Lodge provided transportation to deliver all of the seedlings and a range of refreshments for those involved in this great team project.More posts from May 2015
