Where could be a better destination to share in an unforgettable family adventure than the Serengeti? Home of the Great Migration and some of Africa’s most spectacular wildlife and nature, a journey into Tanzania will remain a lifelong memory of discovery for younger ones in years to come.
To help families make the most of every moment of their time on safari, our Big Five Family Safari package provides a day by day itinerary that includes some of the key highlights for any visit to Serengeti. From a hot air balloon safari to planting camera traps around the Lodge’s grounds and making Maasai toothbrushes from local trees, there is something for all ages, with tailored family experiences for you to treasure together. Over five fun-filled days, our Safari Lodge offers families the opportunity to discover the very best of the Serengeti, linking daily activities directly to the “big five” animals to help educate and engage, with the Discovery Centre team on hand at all times as an interactive knowledge resource.
Upon arrival at the Lodge, children are presented with their very own Serengeti passport in which they can collect stamps for each member of the animal kingdom seen. The dedicated Kijana Klub helps children keep track of their stamps and provides the perfect place to hang out during any free time, with a series of games and art and crafts available for ages two and above.
Inclusive of a four night stay in a Terrace Suite Water Hole View for two adults and two children on a full board basis, with return transfers to Seronera Airstrip, a morning and evening game drive, a hot air balloon safari (for children aged seven and above) and a family cooking class, prices for the Big Five Family Safari package start from USD 10,000. Should families prefer to book a stay outside of the Big Five Family Safari package, a choice of one bedroom rooms and two bedroom suites, plus one and two bedroom villas, are available. Children under the age of 11 staying in the same room as their parents/guardians are able to benefit from complimentary accommodation and food and beverage, while for kids aged 11-17 staying in the same room as their parents/guardians, all of the Lodge’s amenities may be enjoyed at 50 percent of the published additional adult rates.
