“Yoga lets me focus, relax and tone up all at the same time”, says Kenneth Maluba, who joins Four Seasons Safari Lodge in his new role of Yogi and Fitness Instructor. “I actually started out as a track and field athlete. As I developed in my career, it was always my passion for sport that motivated me and through this, I discovered yoga. It’s the balance of both mental strength and physical discipline that captured me – once you master this, it is so powerful in offering a release from daily stresses and distractions.”

Born in Tanzania’s capital city, Dodoma, Kenneth spent two years working at an Athletics Club in South Africa before he was drawn back to his homeland to take up a role as an Instructor of Fitness, Pilates and Yoga. After two years of city life, the opportunity to be based in the tranquillity of the Serengeti was too strong a draw to resist.

“It’s incredible to be surrounded by such natural beauty. There could not be a more inspiring setting for yoga and meditation.” And now, as Kenneth takes over the Lodge’s programme of yoga and meditation, he is expanding the offering to include private Pilates classes and daily group fitness classes each evening as the perfect way to stretch and energise the body after a day in the safari vehicle.
